As part of the European Culture Pilots project, organised in partnership with Marseille-Provence 2013 and the Union des Centres Sociaux des Bouches du Rhône, six local social centres are each recruiting two cultural and tourist guides. These guides will run a project featuring neighbourhoods off the beaten track and take part in cultural outreach activities.

Guides’ duties include:

• Developing original tours showcasing the social centre’s neighbourhood.
• Taking groups on tours of the neighbourhood.
• Contributing to the promotion of tours and internal and external communications activities (targeting the team, volunteers, administrators and users).
• Providing cultural outreach services and giving information on the Marseille-Provence 2013 programme to the public.

 
A training session especially designed for the project will take place over 22 days from October to December 2012. Guides will be supported by tourism and cultural outreach professionals when developing and implementing tours. The tours will take place in 2013 as part of the official Marseille-Provence 2013 programme.
