On 22 and 23 June, the Regional Contemporary Art Fund (FRAC), the Société Nautique de Marseille and Marseille-Provence 2013 will give free rein to Franck Pourcel. This artist, who is taking part in a Euro-Mediterranean Atelier, invites us to discover his world through different films.

On Friday, three films by Artavazd Peleshyan (We, The Seasons of the Year and Our Century) will be shown. The Saturday screening will be set aside for Roberto Rossellini’s Stromboli. The screenings will begin at 6.30pm at the Espace de la Nautique in Marseille’s 7th arrondissement.

For the last year, artist Franck Pourcel has been involved in a Euro-Mediterranean Atelier organised by the FRAC as part of the Ulysses project, which features six contemporary art itineraries throughout the Capital of Culture region. In 2013, the work produced during this Atelier will feature in the monographic exhibition Constellations. At the film screenings on 22 and 23 June, the artist will discuss the different stages of his photography project that follows in the footsteps of Ulysses. He will talk about his past and future Mediterranean journeys – to Cyprus, Lebanon, Sicily, Egypt and more.

Using the idea of a temporary library, the FRAC asked Franck Pourcel to choose works reflecting his views. The selected books delve into art history, photography, sociology and poetry and tell us more about the way this artist sees the world and his photographic journey. Pourcel also included several films – some of which will be screened during the two-day event.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to discover Armenian director Artavazd Peleshyan’s poetic and humanistic work, or to watch Rossellini’s classic Stromboli one more time.
