Posté le 15/05/2012 par RC
Ruedi Baur and Civic City, alongside the Advanced Itinerant Learning Programme for Street Arts (FAI AR) and Marseille-Provence 2013, are seeking interns to take part in the workshop, Three Train Stations for a Local Utopia: The Prototype as a Tool for Transformation and Dialogue, which will run from 27 August to 16 September.
Civic City is an institute for critical research in design directed by Ruedi Baur. This artist, who is taking part in MP2013′s Creative Urban Projects programme, describes his approach to art as follows: “Working with sounds, silences and shadows; introducing positive perturbations; using fragility as a force; and encouraging dialogue with the city: these are examples of our interests and civic spirit. Design can rebuild the social contract.”
His multidisciplinary workshop will begin by analysing the urban context through meetings with local residents and users of the Saint Antoine, Saint Joseph-le-Castellas and Saint Louis – Les Aygalades train stations in Marseille. Next, the workshop will explore the role train stations play in neighbourhoods. This is not just about their usefulness, but also their impact on urban and social transformations.
Interns seeking to further research on creations in public space will be recruited to take part in the workshop. This includes designers, directors, actors, dancers, musicians, scenographers, choreographers, composers, urban planners, architects, landscape designers, botanists, performers, graphic designers, anthropologists, sociologists and city policy officers.
